Stephen Popelich – Belle Vernon, formerly of Monessen

Stephen Popelich, 94, of Belle Vernon, formerly of Monessen, passed away on Jan. 31, 2022, in Hallsworth House of Monessen. He was born in Monessen, a son of the late Stephen and Anna Fritz Popelich. Stephen was a member of St. Basil Russian Orthodox Church of Rostraver Township, F&AM No. 252, and served his country honorably in the United States Army in the Korean War. Surviving are his daughter, Marcia Buchanan; grandchildren, Julia Trozzo, Elizabeth Concepcion and husband Gary, Mark and wife Yoko Buchanan, Adam Buchanan and fiancée Elizabeth; and a great-grandson, Leo Buchanan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Youla DeMarino Popelich; a daughter, Debora Trozzo; and three sisters, Margaret Vrancik, Anne Dacko and Elizabeth Gladys. Private funeral services were entrusted to RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen. Father Joseph Romanchak officiated the services. Burial was held in Grandview Cemetery of Monessen.
