It’s Etched in Stone: Memories of Monessen’s ‘Wildcat Hollow’

Hugo J. Parente was arguably Monessen’s most successful mayor, serving the third-class city during its most prosperous era. He was so revered for his accomplishments, that he is the only Monessen mayor that has had a major thoroughfare named in his honor. The wooded area in which sulfur creeks once streamed through is today known as Parente Boulevard.
