Margaret Ann ‘Peggy’ Foster – Charleroi

By obits

Margaret Ann “Peggy” Foster, 67, of Charleroi went with the Lord on Friday, March 18, 2022, six years after her diagnosis of multiple myeloma. Born Jan. 5, 1955, she was the daughter of James P. and Elsie V. Miller, who passed away in 1976 and 1992, respectively. Peggy worked as a nurse for over 40 years at the old Charleroi Hospital, Mon Valley Hospital in the ICU, Albert Gallatin Home Health and Century Cardiac Care in Monongahela. She was a strong and compassionate caregiver both in her long career, as well as for family members, old friends and neighbors over the years. She volunteered for years in her church for Meals on Wheels and other community activities. She was a member of The Christian Mothers. She was always cooking and baking for loved ones and elderly friends and calling to check on those she cared about. Peggy is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Autum Kissinger (John) of Coraopolis and Charlee Hartley (Jason) of Charleroi. The lights of her life were her grandchildren, Graysen Elise and Christian John Kissinger and Carsen Jean and Miller Martin Hartley. Peggy was the best “Grammy” ever, always babysitting, attending her grandkids’ activities, playing games with them and baking their favorite treats. Peggy is also survived by her siblings and in-laws, James B. and Terri Miller, Bridget Roule, Janet and Todd O’Connell, Collette Miller and Jarret Catanzaro, and Lisa Papini and John Boozer; her former husband and friend, Marty Foster; nieces and nephews; and many devoted lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles, and her loving brother-in-law, Ronald Roule. Peggy genuinely appreciated all the love and support she received during her six years of cancer treatment. Her family would like to thank Dr. Stanley Marks and his staff, especially Carrie, and the amazing nurses at Shadyside Hospital for their capable and compassionate care. Friends and family will be received from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday March 20, 2022, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., (formerly Schrock- Hogan Funeral Home), 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Monday, March 21, 2022, at St. Andrew Apostle Parish, Charleroi, Seventh Street and Washington Avenue, Charleroi. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to your local Meals on Wheels organization or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a foundation that provides for research and grants financial assistance to those battling various cancers, including multiple myeloma. In Peggy’s honor, if you are going through a tough time or have the chance to help or take care of someone else who is struggling, find the strength, find the time and “Do what you gotta do!” Personal condolences may be sent to the family at www.hogan-melenyzer.com.
