Ronald Anthony Richard Bettis – MANATI, PUERTO RICO, FORMERLY OF MONESSEN

Ronald Anthony Richard Bettis, the son of the late Walter Richard Bettis III and Frances Judkins-Bettis, was born on Nov. 10, 1944. Ronald was educated in the public schools of Mo-nessen, Westmoreland County. He graduated from Monessen High School in 1962. He attended Waynesburg University, Bernard Baruch City College of New York and the University of Pennsylvania. Ronald was a patriot and served his country in the U.S. Air Force between 1964 and 1968 in the intelligence field. Upon being honorably discharged, he worked as a corporate financial analyst for Fortune 500 companies in New York City, San Francisco and Miami. A collector of music, ethnic art and books, he was fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. Ronald was well-traveled and spent many leisurely hours in his favorite destinations: Paris, Madrid and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He retired to the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico, where he resided for several decades. Ronald quietly departed this life in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on June 15, 2022, and will be interred in the San Juan Veterans Cemetery at his request. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister, Peggy Ann Bettis-Lanier. He is survived by one very devoted nephew, Craig C. Lanier of Monessen; several great-nieces, great-nephews and their families, James Lanier and Jade Lanier of Jacksonville, Fla., Donte Lanier Sr. and Donte Lanier Jr. of Monessen, and Courtnee Heath-Frost (and husband Dylan Frost) of Colorado Springs, Colo., and their three children, Kaedyn, Kalei and Khari Frost; as well as a host of dedicated, loving cousins, and new and lifelong friends.
