Chesney P. Smith, 71, of Rostraver Township, died Thursday, July 7, 2022. Born in Rostraver Township on Aug. 1, 1950, he was the son of the late Philip C. and Margaret L. Foster Smith. Chesney was a welder for Pitt-Mon Auto Salvage and was a member of Fells United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working on cars, gardening and was noted for always helping others before doing for himself. He is survived by his lifelong partner, Barb Sedok; stepdaughters, Sylvia (John) Sandis of Monongahela, and Destinee Sedok of Charleroi; step-grandchildren, Aidan Sandis, Phoebe Sandis, Nalah Durant, Novy Durant and Sa’Narrah Durant; brothers, Brian (Donna) Smith of Connecticut and Stuart (Chris) Smith of Texas; sisters, Sara (Larry) Phillips of Texas, Frances Bujanowski of Charleroi, LaVerne (Gary) Cozakos of Texas, Maggie (Bertram) McAlister of Charleroi, Debbie Steinmeyer of West Mifflin and Tina (Alan) Traweek of Louisiana; 12 nieces and nephews, including his special godchild, Kaitlin; seven great- nieces and great-nephews; and two great-great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Thomas Phillips. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Zach Bohinski officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
