Local leaders, organizations and businesses have put up money to bring the Vietnam and 9/11 Traveling Memorials to Westmoreland County.
The memorials will be arriving to the Smithton Ball Fields, 690 Peer St., and it will be open 24/7 to the public. The opening ceremony begins at 10 a.m. Aug. 10 and the exhibit will run until closing ceremonies at 2 p.m. Aug. 14. State Rep. Eric Davanzo, R-South Huntingdon Township, organized the exhibition and personally donated $1,000 to see it come to the county. Walt Vinoski and the Vinoski Foundation donated $5,000 to aid the effort. Vinoski presented the donation to Davanzo Wednesday afternoon at the Vinoski Winery in Rostraver Township.
