Free dental clinic this weekend

Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh’s free dental clinic will take place Friday and Saturday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. New to the clinic this year are on-site eye and hearing care exams. Free hearing aids will be available to those coping with hearing loss or those who may need updated hearing devices. Doors to the convention center will open at 6 a.m. and the clinic begins at 7 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Adults and children ages 2 and up will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. “The need for dental care for folks in the community is extremely high,” said Keith Young, chairman of A Call to Care, the nonprofit that sponsors Mission of Mercy. “I didn’t realize until I got involved with this.” Many dentists will shut down their private practices Friday in order to give to those in need. Among them is Dr. Kevin Ryan, an oral surgeon/triage dentist who runs a private practice in McKeesport.
