Westmoreland County blight effort to focus on Monessen

More than half of the properties that have been targeted for a county-wide blight remediation project are in the City of Monessen. Aside from the former Valley Independent building on Sixth Street, which began collapsing last weekend, Monessen has a number of properties that will potentially be demolished in the next few years as part of the program.
