An 18-year-old woman was rescued Sunday after reporting a year of captivity in Monongahela after she sent text messages to 911 when her alleged captor was sleeping.
Monongahela police reported finding a room with a mattress on the floor, a chain with handcuffs attached and food and water nearby when the alleged victim was freed.
The Mon Valley Independent does not identify victims of alleged sexual assault.
Nikolaus James Breland, 32, of West Main Street in Monongahela is being held in the Washington County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bond on charges of promoting a house of prostitution, sexual assault, false imprisonment, simple assault and terroristic threats.
