Genes leads Eagles over Warriors

Serra Catholic broke things open in the third quarter and found a way to fend off Elizabeth Forward in the fourth for a 53-45 road victory in a non-section clash between a pair of Valley teams Thursday night. The Eagles (2-0) outscored the Warriors (2-2) by an 18-7 margin in the third after the two teams went into halftime tied at 18-18. EF cut its deficit to six with 1:15 remaining in the final frame, but Serra managed to score five of the final eight points to hold on for the win.
