Monessen leaders address gun violence

Monessen City Council’s meeting Thursday was held just hours after the viewing for shooting victim Amari Altomore, and the 16-year-old’s family, life and death were on the minds of many of those present. Councilwoman Lois Thomas asked for prayers for Amari’s family and for the entire community. Councilman John Scott Nestor said he would like to address gun violence in the community and hopes to maybe work with the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s office to create a gun buy-back program.
