Monessen approves AFSCME contract, hirings

The City of Monessen settled its new contract with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Union that will run through Dec. 31, 2027. AFSCME covers the city’s clerical, street department and parks employees. Solicitor Joe Dalfonso said the contract is retroactive to Jan. 1, 2022. There was a wage freeze for 2022, the first year of the contract, Dalfonso said.
