Cold water, warm hearts at California’s Frosty Frolic

Solomon Ortiz was excited about jumping in the Monongahela River with his fellow Cal U football players at Saturday’s Frosty Frolic. “We’ve been talking about it for the past week, just chatting it up, seeing what our thoughts are. It’s actually not a bad day today. We thought it was gonna be a lot colder, even snowing,” Ortiz said. “It’s a good day to jump in the river, I think.” The California Area School District Foundation hosted the annual event at the dock in Coal Center, where folks young and old took the chilly plunge to raise money.
