Four Mon Valley girls teams earn top four seeds

Four local girls basketball teams were amongst the top-seeded squads in their respective classifications, as brackets for the upcoming WPIAL playoffs were unveiled Monday. Class 5A McKeesport, Class 4A Elizabeth Forward and Class 2A Serra Catholic were all named No. 3 seeds, while Class 1A Monessen earned a No. 4 seed following successful regular seasons. McKeesport (18-4) was the second-place team in Section 3-5A behind second-seeded Oakland Catholic and will host No. 14 Penn Hills (10-10) in a first-round matchup on Feb. 21.
