Demolition project begins in Monessen

Mayor Ron Mozer had one thing to say late last week as equipment started to bring down 544 Donner Ave. “Finally.” The building has been deteriorating for years, and bricks began falling off and landing in the alley last year, causing new safety issues. In September, the building at 123-129 Sixth St. began falling in on itself and the owner signed the rights to demolish it over to the county. The county was also responsible for bringing down the Fifth Street Hotel.
