Irey Vaughan won’t run for reelection

After nearly three decades of public service, Diana Irey Vaughan has decided not to run for another term as Washington County commissioner. Irey Vaughan, who serves as chair of the county commissioners, spent a lot of time over the past year thinking about whether or not she would seek an eighth term. It wasn’t an easy — or quick — decision. In fact, she started circulating nominating petitions for this spring’s primary before making a final decision.
