The Donora Historical Society has set springtime dates for walking tours of Eldora Park – the Mon Valley’s lost amusement park.
Historical society member Mark Pawelec will lead a tour of the former trolley park noon April 15 and 1 p.m. April 16. Additional tours may be scheduled April 29 and 30 as well.
Prior to the tour, member Brian Charlton gives a slideshow presentation on the park at the Donora Smog Museum at 595 McKean Ave. The talk features historical accounts, black and white photos and secondhand stories about the park.
The two-hour presentation and expedition regularly attracts history buffs, roller coaster and outdoor enthusiasts and others to learn about the park and local history.
This year marks the seventh year the organization hosts the tour, which takes an in-depth look at life in the Valley during the turn of the 20th century.
