Marlene A. Zelenski – Fallowfield Township

By obits

Marlene A. Zelenski, 71, of Fallowfield Township, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Marlene was an English teacher for Ringgold School District for several years before assuming various leadership positions throughout her life. Most recently, Marlene retired from Monongahela Valley Hospital as the director of environmental services. Christian by faith, Marlene was the center of her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and making memories that will last a lifetime. She was an avid football fan and loved nothing more than cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers with her family by her side and competing in the “Zelenski Friends and Family” fantasy football league. Marlene also enjoyed sunbathing by the pool, playing card games and going to the beach with her family. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone she met, and she will be remembered for her selflessness, dedication to her family, dry sense of humor and unwavering love for her family. Marlene was born on April 25, 1951, in Monongahela, daughter of the late August and Rose Grillo. She is survived by her husband of 43.5 years, Robert L. Zelenski of Fallowfield Township; one daughter, Tierney (Michael) Zitelli of Bentleyville; two sons, Randall (Jenna) Zelenski of Peters Township and Daniel Zelenski of Carroll Township; three granddaughters Gianna Zitelli, Gabi Zitelli and Ellie Zelenski; brother, Joseph ‘Del’ (Carol) Grillo, of Fallowfield Township; brother-in-law, Dean (Sharon) Zelenski, of Fallowfield Township; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant granddaughter, Emily Zelenski, in 2020; and aunt and uncle, Geraldine and Jack Goimerac. Marlene’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her memory will live on in the stories and memories shared by her loved ones. The world has lost a shining light, but Marlene’s spirit will continue to live on through the love and joy she brought into the lives of others. Her family is strengthened in their time of sorrow by the assurance of her presence with our Lord Jesus Christ. Throughout Marlene’s life, this fact was never in doubt. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, at CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with interment following at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Rest in peace, Marlene. You were the rock of our family and will be forever loved and deeply missed. Online condolences may be sent to www.spallinofuneralhome.com.
