California Area School District students hope to put on a scrumdidilyumptious show this week that will satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth.
The California Area School District Drama Club will stage Ronald Dahl’s “Willy Wonka” 7 p.m. tonight and Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.
Tickets range from $12 to $15.
The sweet adventures of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory will light up on the stage in the district’s adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale which follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars.
Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy.
Director Rob Berletich said he chose Rohl Dahl’s “Willy Wonka” because he thought it would be a positive story to tell.
With slight difference from the classic 1979 movie , Berletich said a true villain will not take the stage this weekend.
“The only threat the golden ticket winners face are their own actions,” he said. “Which I feel relates greatly to our own lives when it comes to any kind of personal success. We’ve all heard numerous expressions that all kinder, ‘The only thing standing in your way is you.’”
