When Belle Veron Area High School musical Director Michael Rozell saw “Anastasia” on its Broadway tour in Pittsburgh last year, he walked away knowing it had to be his final production at Belle Vernon Area.
When his students take the stage tonight for the opening of “Anastasia,” it will conclude a nearly three-decade career directing musicals, plays and performances as a Leopard.
“When I saw it on tour in Pittsburgh last year, I did not really know too much about it,” Rozell said. “I thought it would be a nice evening, just a dinner and a show, and I walked away totally awestruck. The music was beautiful, the story is based on history, I loved the score, I loved the staging and I knew it had to be my final show.”
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets are on sale at www.bvabroadway.com or by calling 724-808-2500 ext. 2173.
Tickets will also be sold before each performance as they are available.
They cost $10 for students and $15 for adults.
More than 70 students, which includes cast, crew, and orchestra will proudly take the stage tonight with their classmates and take a journey to the past.
