Area communities benefit from grants

Several Mon Valley communities have been awarded grant funding through the Commonwealth Financing Authority. Money will be used for projects to improve public safety, create additional recreational opportunities and renovate buildings used to serve important government functions for residents. Area legislators made grant announcements for their respective districts Thursday. Sen. Camera Bartolotta, R-Carroll Township, said more than $5.5 million in funding had been awarded in the 46th District.
