Westmoreland County overdose deaths dropped significantly in 2022, according to a report released this week. The coroner’s office recorded 118 accidental drug and alcohol overdose deaths last year compared to 168 in 2021. It marks the lowest number of recorded overdoses in the county over the past eight years. The drop correlates with an increased effort by county officials and law enforcement to address drug-related deaths in recent years. The county has continued to work with the state to address the issue medically and judicially.
