DA to seek death penalty in officer’s fatal shooting

The Allegheny County District Attorney’s office announced Friday that it will pursue a death penalty conviction against the man accused of killing a Mc-Keesport police officer in early February. On Feb. 6, Johnathan Morris, 31, allegedly shot two city police officers on Grandview Avenue, killing Officer Sean Sluganski and wounding Officer Chuck Thomas. According to police, a third officer shot Morris in the leg during the incident, incapacitating him. Morris was hospitalized until Feb. 9.
