Washington County expands broadband internet service

Washington County Commissioners have approved projects to place internet lines in Jefferson Township, Canton Township and Taylorstown in the third phase of its broadband initiative. The projects were awarded to Hickory Telephone for 111 locations in Jefferson Township, 142 in Taylorstown and 130 in Canton Township, with Washington County slated to pay approximately $1.9 million while using American Rescue Plan Act funds. With the engineering design, permitting, material and fiber construction, costs will total $4.8 million.
