Tree saved Monessen’s World War II memorial

Monessen’s veterans and the city’s Shade Tree Commission likely share a similar passion for the importance of trees. Last year, a car crashed through the fence surrounding City Park, crossed over the walking track and struck a tree that prevented the vehicle from careening into the World War II memorial.
