Glassport council honored a borough resident for serving his community and leading a fishing contest for local kids for the past 45 years.
Carl Inks has helped organize the fishing contest since the 1970s. He was presented a plaque in his honor during council’s meeting Wednesday.
Council President Anthony Colecchi hopes the fishing contest tradition continues for years to come.
“I’m one of the new parents that are helping to keep this alive,” Colecchi said. “If it weren’t for people like Mr. Inks, activities like these would have died off long ago.”
Sponsored by the Glassport Police Department, the contest is held annually for kids living in the borough ages 2 to 15.
