Six Mon Valley fire departments responded to a residential structure fire Tuesday morning that left the resident in a local hospital with minor burns and smoke inhalation.
At 9:09 a.m., Roscoe firefighters were called to 600 Lower Coal St. to battle a residential fire caused by a malfunction in the oven.
“The investigation showed that the fire started in the oven,” Roscoe Volunteer Fire Co. Chief Larry Pollock said. “The resident was cleaning her oven and something, we believe, malfunctioned.”
When firefighters arrived, Pollock said flames were pouring out of windows on two sides of the residence. One of the main concerns while battling the fire were the entrance wires.
