A familiar face will return to the Belle Vernon Area School District in a leadership role.
During a combined workshop and voting meeting Tuesday, the Belle Vernon Area school board unanimously voted to bring area resident Jeanine Gregory back as the district’s interim superintendent.
In the wake of former Superintendent Dr. Ken Williams’ recent retirement, the board turned to Gregory for the second time after enlisting her expertise as substitute interim superintendent in July 2021, following the resignation of George Lammay.
Gregory served as an asssistant superintendent and superintendent in the South Park School District for 11 years before her retirement in July 2016. Prior to that, Gregory served 26 years in the BVA school district.
Gregory will take the role July 24 at a rate of $580 per day.
At a previous meeting, it was stated the board hopes to find a new superintendent by Sept. 1.
