For more than 70 years Lee Supply Company has put family — including its customers and employees — at the forefront of its business model.
As Lee Supply Company looks to the future, one of the largest family-owned companies in the Mon Valley has made the decision to sell.
Core & Main Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of Lee Supply Company Inc., according to the family. The sale is expected to be finalized in January.
It was a decision the family did not come to easily, but they are confident it is the right choice.
While they will be under new ownership in 2024, business, as far as customers and employees are concerned, is expected to operate with little change.
Long-standing history
A family-owned-and-operated business founded by Ed Lee in 1954, Lee Supply Company has called the Mon Valley home for nearly seven decades. He started the company to meet the needs of the mining industry by selling top-quality mining products to the coal industry in western Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia and eastern Ohio.
Lee Supply Company is headquartered in Charleroi, with branches in, Beaver, W.Va., West Columbia, S.C. and a McElvenny Division in Downingtown, Pa.
