DEP authorizes air quality plan for landfill

The controversial onsite leachate treatment and evaporation system that the Westmoreland Sanitary Landfill hopes to install received a boost Wednesday when the state’s Department of Environmental Protection authorized an air quality plan to allow a system to be built. The air quality plan approved for the landfill, located in Rostraver Township, sets limits on emissions and specific monitoring requirements.
