The Frazier and Charleroi boys’ basketball squads share a lot of similarities this season.
Both teams rely on their defense and get most of their scoring from their upperclassmen.
Also, they are both in the thick of things when it comes to the playoffs in their respective sections. The Commodores are fourth in Section 4-2A, and the Cougars are tied for fifth in Section 4-3A.
The second half of their respective section schedules are going to be critical.
On Wednesday, Charleroi gained some momentum and ended a three-game losing streak by outlasting Frazier, 50-38, in non-section play at home.
“We were ready to play at the tip tonight,” Charleroi coach Joe Greer said. “We showed a lot of intensity and played the hard-nosed style of defense that we are looking for night in and night out. We have had some slow starts this season, and we challenge them to start fast tonight.”
