Eugene Paul Turtzer – Uniontown, formerly of Charleroi

Eugene Paul Turtzer, 87, of Uniontown and formerly of Charleroi, passed away on Friday, Jan 12, 2024, at The Gathering Place in Uniontown. Gene was born in North Charleroi on March 14, 1936, son of Joseph and Emily Torelli Turtzer. Gene retired from the former Corning Glass in 1992. He was a U.S. Marines veteran, having served during the Korean War. Gene was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Charleroi. He was an umpire and referee for 50 years in the Mon Valley and was a member of the Mon Valley Umpires Association. Gene also was a bass player with The Corsairs for many years. He loved sports and music. Surviving are his wife, Sandy Heane Turtzer; a son, Rick Turtzer of Uniontown; and two grandchildren, Hannah Turtzer and Travis Lee. Gene was preceded in death by his brother, James Turtzer. There will be no public visitation. Interment with military honors will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
