James A. Vertullo – Pittsburgh
James A. Vertullo, of Pittsburgh, passed at St. Clair Hospital on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, after a long-term illness. He passed peacefully with love and support from his family. Jim is survived by his son, James A. Vertullo Jr., who cared for him at home for several years; daughter, Jennifer R. Vertullo of McKeesport; grandchildren, Magdalena Bowie Koisor and Logan Margliotti; siblings, David A. (Kathy) Vertullo, M.D., of Scottsdale, Ariz., Robert A. (Linda) Vertullo of Adams Township and Susan M. Vertullo of Virginia Beach; nieces and nephews; and of course, his madcap pup, Freya. He was preceded in death by parents, Carmen L. Vertullo and Esther Pace Vertullo. Jim was a proud 1971 graduate of Central Catholic High School, attended Robert Morris College and graduated from Duquesne University in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. Upon graduation, he worked in environmental services management and chemical sales for medical and institutional facilities. Jim raised his family in Downingtown and South Park Township, where he helped to coach youth baseball. He was an avid football fan in adulthood and a proudly aggressive player in his youth. Jim will be remembered for his tenacity, persistence and will. He lived and died by his own rules. Friends and family will be received at JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024. A Mass of Christian burial is planned at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, at St. Paul of the Cross Roman Catholic Parish’s St. Anne Church, 400 Hoodridge Drive, Castle Shannon.
