Shapiro sets up task force for election security

Elected officials have varying opinions about a new Pennsylvania Election Threats Task Force that Gov. Josh Shapiro is assembling to keep the 2024 process free from interference and misinformation. It’s being led by Secretary of State Al Schmidt, a former Philadelphia election official who said he received death threats for defending the city’s 2020 vote counting. Schmidt has said that a wave of experienced administrators departing county election offices is a threat to the process.
