Hackers tap into Donora computers

Donora’s computer system was compromised late last week when hackers went phishing by email and attempted to trick employees into wiring money and redirecting their direct deposits. Borough Administrator Michael Thornton received an email last Friday from council President Cindy Brice asking him to wire $3,400 to a police organization in Florida. Thornton started asking questions, and as a former banker, informed the person sending the email he would need a routing number to proceed.
