There’s no denying the 2024 season wasn’t the banner year the John Carroll softball team was hoping for.
The Blue Streaks finished the season with a 6-29 overall record and went just 2-16 in Ohio Athletic Conference play.

There’s no denying the 2024 season wasn’t the banner year the John Carroll softball team was hoping for.
The Blue Streaks finished the season with a 6-29 overall record and went just 2-16 in Ohio Athletic Conference play.
But to no one’s surprise, Kaylyn Odelli continues to lead the way and had a great individual season for JCU.
She was a big reason the Blue Streaks stunned Allegheny, the top team in the Presidents Athletic Conference for a doubleheader sweep in the final week of April.
Odelli, a former Yough standout, led the Blue Streaks with a .348 batting average. She had a team-high 40 hits, including six doubles. She tied for the team lead with two homers and ended with a team-leading 16 runs scored.
She struck out a team-low seven times and had a team-high 10 stolen bases with an on-base percentage of .400.
The junior has a career batting average of .293 after hitting .252 (2023) and .222 (2022). She has 12 career doubles, four homers and 32 RBIs.
Kolowitz heading to NCAA Tournament
Belle Vernon Area’s Olivia Kolowitz will join her St. Francis teammates in Austin for the NCAA Tournament.
The Red Flash earned the No. 3 seed in the Austin Regional after winning the Northeast Conference with a perfect mark.
St. Francis (40-12, 24-0) will open the regional Friday against Northwestern at 6:30 p.m.
Also in the region is No. 1 overall seed and host Texas and Siena.
In the NEC conference championship, Kolowitz’s Red Flash topped her former Leopard teammate, Maren Metikosh’s Central Connecticut State squad.
Conte ends best season with Cal
California High School graduate Payton Conte was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Year as well as a All-PSAC First Team performer for his work in the 2024 season.
Conte ended the season hitting .469 with a 1.189 OPS for the Vulcans, who finished the season 28-18 with a 14-14 mark in the PSAC.
Conte, just a junior, made 35 starts for the Vulcans and finished with 46 hits, six doubles, two triples, three homers and 23 RBIs.
Bubash leads Rock’s tourney run
Ringgold grad and state champion Koby Bubash played an intricate role in Slippery Rock’s run to the PSAC Tournament.
Bubash finished third in the lineup hitting .348 with eight doubles, four home runs and team-highs 31 RBIs and a .522 slugging percentage.
The Rock finished 28-18 overall with a 17-11 conference mark in the PSAC.
Bubash and Slippery Rock’s season came to an end in the PSAC Tournament after losing a 16-10 slugfest with No. 24 East Stroudsburg.
Curcio, PS-Behrend win AMCC title
Frazier graduate Emi Curcio celebrated another AMCC championship as the Lions (33-8) topped Mt. Aloysius Saturday, 5-2.
Curcio, a senior, finished the season with 11 RBIs for the Lions, including the first of the championship game. Curcio’s sacrifice fly in the first inning staked the Lions to the early lead.
Curcio and Behrend away their seeding in the NCAA Division III tournament later today.
