Thomas Jefferson used a three-run fourth inning to take the lead for good to upset No. 7 South Fayette and pull off a 6-4 win in a WPIAL Class 5A first-round contest Monday at Peterswood Park.

Thomas Jefferson used a three-run fourth inning to take the lead for good to upset No. 7 South Fayette and pull off a 6-4 win in a WPIAL Class 5A first-round contest Monday at Peterswood Park.
Taylor Karpac gave Thomas Jefferson a 4-3 lead when she scored on an error by South Fayette center fielder Maddie Cavenaugh, but the big hit came immediately after.
The Jaguars’ Addi Bracco ripped a double to right field to score Stock to make it 5-3. Two batters later, Morgan Alisesky singled home Bracco to make it 6-3.
Bracco had two doubles and Alisesky added an earlier double for TJ.
Aubrey Shaffer got the win for Thomas Jefferson. She threw a complete game and allowed eight hits and four runs.
Emma Earley got the loss for the Lions (11-6). She allowed seven hits and six runs, three earned. She walked five.
Cavenaugh hit a solo homer to tie the game at three in the bottom of the third inning.
The Jaguars’ win avenged an earlier loss to South Fayette this season.
With the win, the No. 10 Jaguars (10-7) will face No. 2 North Hills Wednesday at a site and time to be determined.
