• It’s no secret that Coach Dan Palm loves baseball. Palm is in his second year coaching at Albert Gallatin. His Colonials are enjoying one of the best seasons in the school’s history with a 13-5 season record which includes an impressive 15-6 victory over Penn-Trafford in the preliminary round of the WPIAL Class AAA playoffs. Albert Gallatin, which finished second to Ringgold in Section 2, faces a tougher challenge against North Allegheny. Win or lose, Palm will be a busy man as the coach of the Rostraver team in the Fayette County League.

• Frazier pitcher Shawn Musgrove was featured as the Valley Independent’s Player of the Week. Musgrove said his favorite athlete is Roger Clemens. Asked who he would choose as a coach other than his own, he couldn’t think of one saying, “I have the best coaches in the world.” If he could pick a teammate from another team it would be Connellsville’s Kevin Bloom. The most amazing play he’s seen in baseball is Joe Carter’s game-winning home run in the World Series. If he could change anything about himself, it would be to increase his speed and his greatest sports fantasy is to play in the World Series.
