Jeff Capel added a third member to Pitt’s 2024 freshman recruiting class Friday when 6-foot-8 wing player Amsal Delalic of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced his verbal commitment on Instagram.
Delalic, 20, played professionally this season for the Borac BL team in the Bosnia Basketball League, giving him experience against older players. He averaged 13.9 points and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 41.5% from beyond the 3-point arc (56 of 135). Overall, he shot 46.3% from the field (106 of 243).
”And the journey continues…,” he wrote on Instagram. “I am thankful for all the people of the University of Pittsburgh and especially coach Jeff Capel and (associate coach) Tim O’Toole for giving me the opportunity to come and play basketball and continue my academic path as well.”
“He added, #AD52 coming to a Zoo near you…” Capel, who has one more available scholarship, has added two other freshmen to the roster: 6-3 guard Brandin Cummings of Lincoln Park and 6-10 forward Amdy Ndiaye of Putnam, Conn. Plus, guard Damian Dunn (65) and forward Cam Corhen (6-10) arrived as transfers from Houston and Florida State.
Pitt’s frontcourt will now include Guillermo and Jorge Diaz Graham, Zack Austin, Corhen, Ndiaye, Delalic, Papa Kante and Marlon Barnes.
Guards Dunn and Cummings will join returning guards Jaland Lowe and Ishmael Leggett.
