• Ringgold teacher Jim Ferguson talked about his experiences during the Vietnam War. “It would rain so hard there that you couldn’t see a foot in front of your face,” recalled Ferguson, who grew up in Donora and was drafted into the Army in 1969. He served as a medic in the First Cavalry, a unit that saw a lot of combat. Ferguson earned the Purple Heart when he was wounded in the face and hand as small arms fire struck the helicopter he was flying in. He has taught at Ringgold for 21 years, mostly at the middle school.
