Young Adult Book Club to meet Saturday

The event is a fundraiser for the Penn Highlands Mon Valley Auxiliary.
The Young Adult Book Club will meet 1 p.m. Saturday at the Monongahela Area Library, 813 W. Main St. To honor Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, participants will be able to choose from fiction and non-fiction stories, both told in a graphic novel format. “Shuna’s Journey,” by Hayao Miyazaki, is a Tibetan folktale in which a young prince embarks on a perilous quest to save his people from starvation. “They Called Us Enemy,” is an autobiographical account from author George Takei’s early life spent as an American interned by his own country during World War II.

Country Custard Cottage fundraiser to benefit Alzheimer’s disease and dementia awareness
The second annual Country Custard Cottage fundraiser to benefit Alzheimer’s disease and dementia awareness will be held 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the cottage, 1503 Mars Hill Road, Sutersville.
There will be food vendors, custard and desserts, the Big Black Grill food truck, live entertainment with The Outlaws, face painting, caricatures and more.
WQED-Inquire Within to visit Carnegie library
“Let’s Explore Math” will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in the children’s room of the Carnegie Free Library of McKeesport, 1507 Library Ave.
Friends at WQED-Inquire Within will attend to explore early math concepts with games and activities inspired by favorite characters. The program is made possible by the generosity by both WQED and the PNC Foundation.
