After a brief winter break, the Joyful Bloomers Garden Club is back and better than ever. The club has planned several fun activities for the coming year. Two new members joined the club.
After a brief winter break, the Joyful Bloomers Garden Club is back and better than ever. The club has planned several fun activities for the coming year. Two new members joined the club.
In March, a program using sea glass to create simple floral forms in frames encouraged the members’ creativity.
In April, the club partnered with the Carnegie Library of McKeesport to present a “Recycle, Repurpose, Reuse” program. It was an informative afternoon.
The annual plant and bake sale will take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 5 at the entrance of Kane Regional Living Center, 100 Ninth St., McKeesport, Today, members will be planting spring annuals in and around the entrance of Kane. The club also maintains two courtyards and the Garden of Reflection.
Guest day will be Aug. 7. Members are encouraged to bring a friend. The meeting will be at Renzie Park pavilion. Guest speaker will be a park ranger and a potluck lunch will be served.
September’s program is “Medicinal Herbs and Natives.” Members will be planting fall annuals.
In November, the club will be making decorations for its entry in the City of McKeesport’s annual Festival of Trees. This is an annual event for the club.
In December, the members will be attend a Christmas high tea with a special guest.
