Cal Bronco, Charleroi tie
In a meeting of two of the top teams, it was only fitting a winner couldn’t be decided Wednesday.
Charleroi (7-1-1) scored one run in the top of the 7th inning to tie the game and that’s where things ended after eight innings.
Peyton Brown and Gabe Phillips each led California (5-1-1) with three hits, with Brown doubling twice and Phillips adding a two-bagger.
Phillips drove in a pair of runs while Ryan Neil added a pair of doubles and an RBI for Cal.
Ian Grodz threw 6 1/3 innings and struck out eight. He allowed five runs, two earned, as his defense committed five errors.
