Federal gun charge filed against area man
A McKeesport resident has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of violating federal gun laws.
A McKeesport resident has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of violating federal gun laws.
The one-count indictment named Jared Abraham Ogrosky, 26, as the sole defendant, according to U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan.
According to the indictment, on or about March 12 Ogrosky possessed a loaded .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol after having been previously convicted of three felonies, including drug trafficking and firearms crimes.
Ogrosky was on federal supervised release at the time of the alleged offense.
Federal law prohibits possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 or both.
Under federal sentencing guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history of the defendant.
Assistant U.S. Attorney V. Joseph Sonson will prosecute the case on behalf of the government.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Allegheny County District Attorney’s Narcotics Enforcement Team; and U.S. Marshals Service conducted the investigation leading to the Indictment.
