Fallowfield tax office closed on Wednesday
The Monongahela Farmers Market will return to Chess Park from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday and will be held each Friday through Aug. 30. The market will feature products from local farmers on Seventh Street and many vendors, crafters and food trucks in and around Chess Park. The Mon Valley Academy of Arts will provide a free concert every week starting at 4 p.m. The market will have a different theme each week. The Fallowfield Township tax collector’s office will be closed Wednesday and will reopen 9 a.m. Thursday.
Rostraver library to host classical music program
As part of the teen and adult summer reading, the Rostraver Public Library will present Classical Encounters, by the WSO Academy of Music from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesdays in June. The mini-music appreciation course is offered in four class sessions and is designed to introduce the world of classical music or serve as a refresher for those knowledgeable about classical music.

Monongahela library to show D-Day documentaries
The Monongahela Area Library will honor the 80th anniversary of D-Day with a series of documentaries beginning at 11 a.m. and running throughout the day on Thursday.
Monthly Eucharistic Adoration set for Friday
Eucharistic Adoration will be held 9 a.m. to midnight Friday at St. Andrew the Apostle Donora church, Second Street Extension and Park Manor Road in Donora.

Carnegie library to participate in World Wide Knit in Public Day on Saturday
The Carnegie Free Library of McKeesport will hold a World Wide Knit in Public Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. It’s the largest knitter-run event in the world and is held on the second Sunday in June at designated sites around the globe.
The purpose of the free event is to show that knitting is for all ages. There will also be a pot-luck picnic. Registration is required by calling 412-6720625 or at www.mckeesportlibrary.org.
Rabies/vaccine clinic to be held in White Oak
The annual rabies clinic will be held 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the White Oak Borough Building parking lot, 2280 Lincoln Way. Rabies vaccines will be $5. The feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia (FVRCP) vaccine for cats will be $15. Dog vaccines for distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirus and parainfluenza (DHLPP) and Bordatella are $15.
Cats must be in a carrier; dogs must be leashed.
St. Paul church to host strawberry festival
A strawberry festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1317 Grand Blvd., Monessen. The festival is open to the public.
Presidential artifacts collector to host program at Monessen library
The Monessen Public library will host Steve Mihaly at noon Saturday. Mihaly is a collector of presidential artifacts and has one of the largest privately held collections in the country with over 20,000 items. During the presentation, he will take the audience on a visual tour of interesting, and sometimes odd, items presidential campaigns have produced to entice folks to vote for them. The presentation itself is not “political,” but more historical, with lots of laughs about the items, sprinkled in with some amusing stories about past presidents.
Center on the Hill to host bingo
Bingo will be held Saturday at the Center on the Hill, 100 Summit Road, Washington Township.
Doors will open at noon, bingo starts at 1 p.m. The kitchen will open at noon. There will be regular games, specials and pull tabs.
Book and jewelry sale set at West Newton library
The West Newton Public Library will hold a book and jewelry sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturday in the parking lot, 124 N. Water St., in conjunction with the West Newton town-side yard sales. Fill two bags for $25. Rain date will be June 15.
Car and bike cruise slated in New Eagle
The New Eagle Volunteer Fire Department will hold a car and bike cruise from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the social hall, 156 Chess St., New Eagle.
Vehicle entry fee is $5. There will be food, music, 50/50 and a basket auction.

Concert in the Park on Saturday in Forward Twp.
A free concert in the park featuring Back Roads will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Gallatin-Sunnyside Park, Gallatin Road, Forward Township. Admission and parking are free. The concession stand will be open. Remember to bring a chair.
The concert is a public event by Forward Township Community Days.
Roscoe Lions to hold car show on Sunday
The Roscoe Lions Club will hold a car show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Thomas J. Reid III Park in Allenport. Car registraton is $10 and ends at 1 p.m.
