Carroll Township’s 2023 paving project has come to a close.
During a business meeting Tuesday, supervisors Ken Hillman, Gary Lenzi and Thomas Rapp approved a $276,651 payment to El Grande Industries.
Several streets were paved, including Lakeview, Gearing and the parking lot of the Valley Inn Social Hall.
Two change orders were added to the project.
The first, for $28,500, added about 600 feet of guide rail along Hazel Kirk and Gearing roads that was not previously there.
The second was to pave the lot of Valley Inn Social Hall for $53,885. The lot hadn’t been paved in more than 40 years, Hillman said.
Rapp said the work, particularly on Gearing Road, was done well and long overdue.
“If you have not been on Gearing, it would be worth a ride,” Rapp said. “It was nearly a ‘Fu-Manchu’ trail before, and they did an excellent job.” Hillman said Gearing was paved from the sharp bend down to state Route 88.
The entire road wasn’t paved because of planned utility work this year on the other portion of the road.
In other business, supervisors: • Accepted $26,931 for the first quarterly payment from Comcast.
• Agreed to donate $1,500 to the Donora and Monongahela libraries.
