The 2024 Renzie market opens Thursday
The Fallowfield Township real estate tax office will be open from 9 a.m. to noon today and Thursday for payments at discount. The office is closed Friday.

From June 24-28, payments will be accepted from 9 a.m. to noon.
The after-hours drop box can be used if necessary. (Residents are asked not to place cash in the drop box.)
The 2024 Renzie market, located in the lot behind McKeesport Fire’s Station No. 2, in Renziehausen Park, will be open from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
With fresh produce from McKeesport’s own CCR Gardens as the market’s centerpiece, it also includes a variety of plants, crafts, handmade housewares, baked goods, snacks and entertainment by the Tiger Swing Society.

Shortbread City Mercantile to be at Penn Highlands Mon Valley
Shortbread City Mercantile will visit Penn Highlands Mon Valley from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in the hospital lobby, 1163 Country Club Road, Carroll Township. Shop for popular items from Shortbread City Mercantile’s culinary boutique and bakery.
Proceeds will benefit the Auxiliary of Penn Highlands Mon Valley.
Dignity Robes group to sew on Friday
The Dignity Robes group will meet 9 a.m. to noon Friday at St. Andrew the Apostle Church sewing room in Donora.
Greenock Log House events scheduled for remainder of year
Special events will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays at the Greenock Log House, 1225 Greenock Buena Vista Road, Elizabeth Township, as follows:
• Saturday — Tribute to the military with Liberty Pole
• July 27 — Family Days with 18th century crafts and games for children
• Aug. 24 — Harvest Day market and sustainable food practices • Sept 28 — Log House Days featuring artists and craft booths, historical reenactors and refreshments plus Apple Fest at neighboring church. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Oct. 26 — Oktoberfest with music and food.
• Dec. 7 and 14 — Christmas open with holiday decorations and treats. Hours will be 4 to 8 p.m.

Barbecue dinner scheduled to benefit Mon Valley Paws
A barbecue dinner featuring pulled pork, two pieces of chicken, corn on the cob, coleslaw and bread, will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at The Steel Plate, 321 Schoonmaker Ave., Monessen. Meals can be dine-in or takeout will be available. There will also be a basket auction. Those attending are asked to bring a pet food donation. Dinners are $17 and benefit Mon Valley Paws. Reading social to be held at Carnegie library
The Carnegie Library of McKeesport will have a reading social to discuss “My Real Name is Hanna” by Tara Lynn Masih at noon Monday at 1507 Library Ave. The social is free and open to the public. Register and check out a book. New members are welcome.

Belle Vernon library to host magician at Community Bank Park
The Belle Vernon Public Library will host magician Steve Haberman and his “Adventure Begins at Your Library” magic show at 11 a.m. June 26 in the pavilion at Community Bank Park on Graham Street in North Belle Vernon. Seats available on First Church trip to Ohio
A one-day bus trip to Sugar Creek, Ohio, planned by Kathy Joseph and sponsored by the First Church of God, is set for July 29. The group will depart from the Turkeytown Fire Hall, West Newton, at 6 a.m. and visit Hershberger’s Bakery, Heini’s Cheese Chalet, lunch in an Amish home, visit Schrock’s Heritage Village, Amish Antique Mall, craft and leather shop or Christmas Store and ending at Walnut Creek Cheese.
