Leaders of the Monessen Beyond Grad Program announced the launch of the Summer Educational Fun series for Monessen High School students.
Parents, students and the public are invited to join the kick off brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Steel Plate/Venue 313, located at 321 Schoonmaker Ave., Monessen.
Monessen High School and PennWest California partnered with Beyond Grad, an RK Mellon Foundation grant-funded program, that aims to empower students not only to develop their plans for after high school, but to take their first steps on that path.

The first guest presenter will be Jamayla Jones, a proud Monessen alumni and current dean’s list student attending Howard University. Jamayla will share her experiences and insights from her freshman year, providing inspiration and practical advice to both students and parents.
Following the kick off event, every Wednesday, there will be weekly beyond grad informational brunches at Venue 313. These sessions will be by invitation only and are designed to personally assist parents and students design a plan to be able to access their most promising future.
This event is an opportunity to learn the future of work assisting students to be well-educated and cultivate a range of skills to be competitive in new industries. Helping students how to prepare for the future of work raises their chances of experiencing upward mobility and enduring unexpected life challenges.
During this time students and parents will learn about upcoming educational events and meet presenters who will share valuable information on preparation for post-secondary education, technical/trade training and workforce development.
