The Charleroi Area Goldenagers met noon June 6 at the Charleroi American Legion with 73 members in attendance.

President Sam Marraccini opened the meeting by leading the flag pledge and singing “God Bless America.” Following the invocation by Chaplain Terry Smolick, lunch was served.
Guest speaker Shelley A. Kubincanek, the church/community relations manager of the Washington City Mission, discussed the intake procedure for those in need of mission help. She also explained some of the classes that are offered to residents, including anger, time and conflict management. The purpose of the classes is to prepare the residents for work opportunities when they leave the Christian organization.
Forms were distributed to members listing various ways they, or churches, can help the mission. For more information, contact Kubincanek at 724-328-0070.
Connie Wilson welcomed new members Ralph and Darlene Waggett.
The following members were recognized for having June birthdays: Ruth Corrin, Michelle Dickerson, Kenny Howell, Shelma Lee, Elaine Martinko, Esther McManus, Joan Metz, Joann Opalko, Mary Jane Petrosky and Steve Sokol.
Marraccini displayed the June birthday cake, which was donated by cfsbank, and everyone sang “Happy Birthday.” Half the take and door prizes were awarded.
The next meeting will be held noon July 11 at North Charleroi Recreation League Park. Reservations are necessary for the summer picnic.
