President Roxanne Huss presided, led the flag pledge and acknowledged the birthday of Josie Sismondo.
Huss also discussed the 80th anniversary of D-Day (June 6, 1944).
Hostesses were JoAnn Celaschi and Mary Dziak. Dziak won the drawing, which was provided by Sue Ann Edwards During the program, Mary Jane Martucci discussed how to create a panel design, which will be one of the designs in the Standard Flower Show set for July 11 at the Mon Valley YMCA in Carroll Township. The show’s t theme is “Let’s Party.”
Conservation Chairman Mardell Page reported on the blackbird/American Crow.
Cecil Verkleeren, scholarship committee, presented information from Tony Morrow of PennWest University California about dispersing scholarship funds.
The deadline for the $1,500 VGC scholarship is July 12.
YMCA Garden Chairman Peggy Brown said members planted the children’s garden June 9. Adam Martin, from Martin’s Flowers and Shrubs in Rostraver Township, helped design the garden project and all the plants were purchased at that time.
The District X fundraiser was held June 13. The centerpieces were designed by Huss, Janice Yeaton, Angie Raitano and Terry Frederick.
Elaine Harmon updated the members on various events that may be of interest for club meetings or outings.
With all business concluded, the meeting was adjourned.
